Tewkesbury

The medieval town of Tewkesbury is still retains many of it's old timber-framed buildings and an intriguing network of paths and alleyways. Located at the junction of the River Avon and the Severn it has a thriving marina and seasonal river boat cruises operate between Tewkesbury and Upton-on-Severn and Tewkesbury to Twyning. Tewkesbury Abbey dates from the 11th Century and boasts the largest surviving Norman central tower in the world. Not far from Tewkesbury Abbey is the historic site of the 1471 Battle of Tewkesbury.

The town of Tewkesbury offers a good variety of shops providing a mix of antique shops, independent specialist retailers and more familiar high street stores.
